The federal and provincial governments have special tax credits for disabled Canadians that can mean additional Tax Credits of up to $40,000. At some point in their lifetime, most Canadians will be eligible for disability tax credits. In addition, those Canadians may also be entitled to the CPP disability benefit as well. Unfortunately most Canadians do not access disability tax credits and the CPP disability pension programs in their lifetime because they did not know they were eligible, relied on their accountant or doctor to get disability tax credits for them or incorrectly completed the required paperwork.
